Patrick Au
Asian Mental Health Coordinator, Auckland District Health Board
Patrick Au is a migrant from Hong Kong. He came to New Zealand in 1991.
In his professional role as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Patrick has been practising in the Mental Health systems, both in Hong Kong and Auckland, for over 30 years, . Following his completion of a Master’s Degree of Education with First Class Honours in Counselling from the University of Auckland in 1999, Patrick is also concurrently running a private Counselling practice. He is a full Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC) and the New Zealand Association of Family Therapy (NZAFT). Patrick is one of the founding members of Vagus Centre.
In his Counselling practice, Patrick has a special interest in working with young Asian people (including the International students), he also enjoys working with couples and families. Patrick is a Ministry of Justice and Department of Corrections Approved Stopping Violence Provider and a qualified Family Court Counsellor. Patrick also has an extensive experience working with Asian people who were involved with the justice and corrections systems.
